Abstract

The moderately radioactive α chemical deposition sludge is a chemical salt precipitate deposited at the bottom of storage tanks during the long-term storage of radioactive waste liquid generated from spent fuel reprocessing.At present,there is no clear treatment technology for medium-level radioactive α sludge due to high radioactivity,therefore research is required to provide technique reserves for the treatment.The research on calcination transformation treatment technology is conducted in a factory using moderately radioactive α chemical deposition sludge to explores the feasibility of the calcination transformation treatment route and provide key process parameter supporting subsequent engineering experiments.In this study,the moderately radioactive α chemical deposition sludge was calcined in a tubular calcination furnace to explore the effects of temperature,time,and atmosphere on the weight loss ratio,denitrification rate,and residue characteristics.The research results show that after the slurry is calcined at 750 ℃ for 60 min in an air atmosphere,the weight loss ratio reaches 60.24%,and the denitrification rate reaches 98.2%,laying a foundation for the subsequent engineering calcination experiment of moderately radioactive α chemical deposition sludge.
