Study on the determination of 210Pb in metallic lead by 210Bi-β counting method

Abstract
Due to its excellent shielding properties,lead is widely used in radiation protection.However,the presence of the naturally occurring radionuclide 210Pb in lead may compromise its shielding effectiveness.Accurate determination of 210Pb specific activity is crucial for selecting low-background shielding lead materials.This study presents a method for measuring 210Pb in metallic lead based on low-background β counting of its daughter nuclide Bi.By optimizing sample pretreatment and measurement conditions,precise quantification of 210Pb in lead was achieved.Experimental results demonstrate that this method exhibits high sensitivity and accuracy,the detection limit of the method is 4.0 Bq·kg-1,and the total spiked recovery rate ranges from 97.3%to 101.4%,making it suitable for determining 210Pb levels in low-background lead.The findings provide technical support for quality control in radiation shielding materials.关键词
