Abstract

In this study,we explored the spatiotemporal dynamics between coastal wetland transfer and carbon storage in the Tianjin-Hebei region during the 2000-2020 period using the In VEST(Integrated Val-uation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs)model,the geographic detector,and the standard deviational ellipse.First,we examined the spatiotemporal evolution of Tianjin-Hebei coastal wetlands.Then we esti-mated carbon storage across different wetland types and analyzed the directional shifts in the spatial distri-bution of carbon storage,the impact of wetland conversion on carbon storage and identified the key influ-encing factors.We aimed to provide a scientific basis for regional sustainable development and spatial planning decisions in the Tianjin-Hebei coastal regions.Results show:(1)From 2000 to 2020,the area of natural wetlands in the Tianjin-Hebei coastal region decreased by 298.65 km2,while the area of artificial wetlands increased by 655.04 km2.Among the different wetland types,the area of reservoirs and tidal flats changed the most,while other wetland types showed only slight variations.At the county/district lev-el,both total wetland area and artificial wetland area increased,contrasting with the decline in natural wet-lands.(2)Carbon storage in Tianjin-Hebei coastal wetlands increased by 179.40×104t from 2000 to 2020,due primarily to the increase in swamp and reservoir areas.The areas of high and medium carbon storage was small,and the low carbon storage area was largest.The spatial distribution of carbon storage was het-erogeneous,and the center of the standard deviational ellipse for carbon storage shifted significantly westward.(3)GDP(32.87%)and distance to the road(27.41%)were the primary human factors affecting the change of carbon storage in the Tianjin-Hebei coastal natural wetland,and annual precipitation(24.75%)and NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index,23.44%)were the primary natural factors.The influence of each influencing factor on the change of carbon storage in the artificial wetland was weak,and the interaction between the influencing factors had a stronger explanatory power on the spatial differentiation of carbon storage in the wetlands.The findings will provide insights into enhancing carbon storage capacity during development in the Tianjin-Hebei coastal wetlands.
