Abstract

In order to explore the influence of moving jet on trenching morphology in clay bottom and to improve the backfill efficiency of submarine pipelines,a multi-nozzle jet device was designed and a physical model test of moving jet for trenching in viscous bottom has been carried out.The influence of nozzle moving speed,nozzle jet angle and undrained shear strength of the seabed materials on trenching effect are studied,and the trench morphology in viscous bottom is discussed and analyzed.The single-nozzle jet test result shows that the optimal trenching effect is achieved when the nozzle is deflected 5° towards the direction of jet movement.The four-nozzle jet test results show that with the increasing of jet moving speed,the trench depth decreases,the increasing trend of scouring capacity is slowing down from fast to slow,and the scouring specific energy decreases and tended to be stable,the optimal jet moving speed in the test is 10 mm/s;with the undrained shear strength of clay increasing,the trench depth decreases;the backfill efficiency in the jet buried pipe test can reach 65%,which indicating that the device can greatly shorten the backfill time.The research results have guiding significance for the optimization design and construction operation of trenching machines.
