Determination and correlation of solubility and metastable zones of succinic acid

Abstract
An online mass fraction analysis method for succinic acid(SA)aqueous solution based on attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of in-situ reaction was developed.The characteristic absorption peak of 1 178 cm-1 was selected to correlate with SA mass fraction,and the correlation coefficient(R2)was 0.999 9,which could meet the analysis requirements.The solubility of SA in pure water was determined by the above analysis method,and the experimental value was in agreement with the literature value.van't Hoff equation,Apelblat equation and λh equation were employed to correlate with the solubility experimental data.The fitting correlation coefficients R2 of the three were 0.999 0,0.999 9,and 0.998 0 respectively,and the relative average deviations were 1.616%,1.613%,and 2.292%respectively.Among the three,the Apelblat equation has a higher fitting degree.Based on the solubility data,the effects of the cooling rate(r)and stirring speed(n)on metastable zone width(ΔTmax)were investigated by adopting the focused beam reflection measurement method according to the experimentally determined ΔTmax.ΔTmax of SA negatively correlated with saturation temperature and n,and positively correlated with r.Additionally,the self-consistent Nývlt-like equation and experimental data were utilized to calculate the nucleation dynamics parameter m ranging from 3.1 to 5.3.关键词
