Abstract

During propagation in steel rails,ultrasonic guided waves undergo reflection,refraction and attenuation phenomena,and have dispersion and multimodal characteristics.The energy of the guided waves also decreases with the increase of the propagation distance.In order to increase the distance of rail health monitoring,this paper proposes an environment adaptation matched filtering method for enhancing the energy of rail guided waves.The guided wave signal collected from the near end of the transducer is used as the reference signal of the environment adaptation matched filter to perform matched filtering on the guided wave signal from the far end.The experimental results show that the reference signal of the environment adaptation matched filter contains rich track information and environmental information,which reduces the influence of accessory structures and environmental factors on the reference signal of the matched filter.The proposed filter can adapt to various different track environments and solve the problem of reduced correlation between the received guided wave signal and the reference signal,substantially improving the matched filtering effect of the received guided wave signal.Compared with directly using the transducer excitation signal as the reference signal,this method can improve the SNR of guided waves by 13 dB,greatly increasing the distance for broken rail detection.
