摘要

Abstract

Intelligent surfaces are regarded as a core enabling technology for sixth-generation(6G)networks,with the capability of dynamically controlling electromagnetic properties to improve communication quality.This paper focuses on two types of enhanced intelligent surface technologies:stacked intelligent surfaces and deformable intelligent surfaces,and systematically elaborates their underlying mechanisms.A stacked intelligent surface is constructed by multiple layers of programmable metasurfaces,which can perform signal processing without external computation,thereby reducing cost and energy consumption.A deformable intelligent surface leverages flexible materials as substrates,enabling channel environment adaptation through structural deformation.Key techniques are further investigated,including beamforming and channel estimation for stacked intelligent surfaces,as well as deformation and precoding design for deformable intelligent surfaces.Their applications in cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output,integrated sensing and communication,and near-field communication are also analyzed.Finally,challenges such as hardware impairments,complex channel estimation,high algorithmic complexity,and insufficient artificial intelligence integration are highlighted,providing directions for future research and practical applications to enhance sixth-generation system performance.
