Vertical Distribution Characteristics of Wind-Sand Flow and Grain Size Parameters in the Northern Margin of Kubuqi Desert

Abstract
In order to explore the influence of typical vegetation configuration on the vertical distribution of wind-sand flow and its grain size parameters in the northern margin of Kubuqi Desert,five shrub vegetation configurations and four arbor-shrub vegetation configurations were selected.The vertical distribution char-acteristics of sand grain size and grain size parameters of wind-sand flow in 0-60 cm height near the surface were analyzed by combining field wind-blown sand observation and indoor analysis.It provides a theoretical reference for the monitoring and renovation of wind and sand in the northern margin of Kubuqi Desert.Results show that:1)The wind-sand flow structure of each vegetation configuration follows a pow-er function distribution(R2>0.78)under different indicative wind speeds(7.5,8.7,10.2,11.3 m/s),and the sediment transport is concentrated in the 0-10 cm height layer,accounting for about 90.99%on aver-age.The proportion of medium sand,fine sand and very fine sand in the 0-10,10-30 and 30-60 cm lay-ers of different vegetation configurations is the largest,with an average proportion of 57.94%,48.16%and 47.51%,respectively.With the increase of vegetation coverage,it tends to decrease,increase and increase.2)The sorting of wind-sand flow in each vegetation configuration changed from good to medium in the height of 0-20 cm,from medium to good(0.5-1.06)in the height of 20-60 cm,and the skewness changed from symmetry to negative skewness(0.248-0.603)when the skewness was higher than 6 cm,and the kurtosis was medium.3)In the shrub configuration with vegetation coverage higher than 25%and the arbor-shrub configuration with vegetation coverage higher than 20%,the average particle size of the wind-sand flow was significantly positively correlated with the sorting coefficient,skewness and kurtosis(P<0.01).The sorting coefficient was positively correlated with the skewness(P<0.01),and the skew-ness was negatively correlated with the kurtosis(P<0.01).In the shrub configuration with vegetation coverage lower than 25%and the arbor-shrub configuration with vegetation coverage lower than 20%,the correlation was weak or negative.Vegetation configuration significantly affects the structure and grain size parameters of wind-sand flow.Combined with the concept of sustainable development,it is suggested that the shrub configuration with vegetation coverage of 25%—30%and the arbor-shrub configuration with vegetation coverage of 20%—25%should be mainly adopted in the construction of local edge-locking forest.关键词
