摘要

Abstract

This study investigates the seed dormancy type and the response mechanisms of seed germi-nation to temperature and light of Origanum vulgare growing in the dry-warm valley of the Jin-shajiang River.The results indicated that seeds exhibit non-deep physiological dormancy at dispersal,which can be alleviated through dry after-ripening and GA3 treatment.After dormancy was broken,seeds had a higher germination maximum and a wider germination temperature threshold range,and the optimal germination temperature range was 15~30℃,which would inhibit seed germination if the temperature was too high or too low.There was no significant difference in seed germination percent-age under alternating temperature conditions compared with constant temperature conditions,and the dark environment would inhibit the germination of O.vulgare seeds.These seed dormancy and germi-nation characteristics are the result of the long-term evolution of plants adapted to the harsh growing environment in the dry-warm valley.
