Abstract

Radionuclide monitoring under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty(CTBT)falls within the scope of low-level radioactivity measurement.To enhance radionuclide detection sensitivity,long-duration measurements are typically required.Thus,the decay of radionuclides in the sample during the measurement process cannot be neglected and it is essential to conduct the decay correction for the parent and daughter nuclides in low-level radionuclide activity analysis.For nuclides with short half-lives or nuclides with decay chains,the decay correction becomes complicated.This paper investigates parent-daughter decay correction techniques using gamma-spectrometry data from CTBT proficiency test aerosol samples(2005-2022).Focusing on representative decay chains such as 99Mo-99mTc,129mTe-129Te,125Sn-125Sb,95Zr-95mNb-95Nb,and 127Sb-127mTe-127Te,this study conducted research on decay correction techniques for parent-daughter nuclides,summarized calculation methods for radioactive activity of parent-daughter nuclides,and compared radioactive activity with reference activities.Comparisons between measured radioactive activities and reference activities are performed.The results show that the decay correction method for the parent and daughter nuclides to determine low-level radionuclide activities achieves high accuracy,with relative deviations between measured and reference activities for both major and minor nuclides remaining within 12%.Furthermore,this method exhibits the capability to identify potentially existing nuclides,thereby validating its accuracy and effectiveness.
