Investigation on Sheep Production Practices and Brucellosis-based Knowledge,Attitudes and Practices of Farms/Households in Jilin Province

Abstract
In order to investigate sheep production practices and Brucellosis-based knowledge,attitudes and practices(KAP)of farms/households in Jilin Province,491 sheep farms/households across 9 cities at prefecture level were cross-sectionally investigated.The results showed that a semi-intensive(pen-pasture integration)production system was adopted by approximately 60.0％farms/households in western and eastern regions,while a captive system was used by 66.7％farms/households in the central plains.The average awareness rate for brucellosis control was 84.1％,specifically,96.9％farmers knew the disease was preventable,59.9％believed it was curable at early stages,45.8％perceived it was severely prevalent,82.7％acknowledged significant economic losses could be caused by infected sheep,and over 90％expressed confidence in implementing control measures.Statistically significant differences in KAP scores were observed across regions,the awareness level of farms/households in Baicheng,Songyuan,Siping and Yanbian was lower than the mean value.59.7％farms/households primarily accessed information on disease control via mobile short-video platforms.In conclusion,sheep farms/households gave a high priority to brucellosis prevention and control,were well aware of the transmission routes of human or sheep Brucellosis,capable of and highly willing to prevent the disease,but lack of enough knowledge on treatment options,prevalent trends and infection risks.Based on the shortcomings and gaps in awareness,it was recommended to improve self-protection awareness of high-risk humans,and to reduce potential risk of brucellosis transmission or spread between humans and animals through optimizing the contents and modes of training and improving relevant awareness.关键词
