Trade-offs,Synergies and Zonal Regulation of Ecosystem Services in Water Network Region of Southern Jiangsu:A Case Study of Wujiang District in Suzhou

Abstract
[Objective]Clarifying the relationships among ecosystem services(ESs)and regulating ecological function zones provide a scientific foundation for coordinating and optimizing ES functions and promoting regional sustainable development.[Method]Taking Wujiang District in Suzhou City as a case study,this research quantitatively assesses five typical ESs:water conservation,food supply,habitat quality,carbon storage,and landscape culture.Spearman correlation analysis,spatial autocorrelation,and other tools are used to reveal the trade-offs,synergies,and spatial differentiation among ESs.K-means clustering analysis is employed to identify ES bundles,and propose zonal regulation strategies.[Result]1)The ESs integration level in Wujiang District exhibits a spatial differentiation pattern of"high in the east/the west and low in the north/the south",with high ES centers in dense water network areas like Taihu Lake and Yuandang,and low centers in rapidly urbanized areas such as the Wujiang Economic Development Zone;2)Key ESs in Wujiang District present the pattern of"strong synergy and weak trade-off",with significant synergistic effects between water conservation-habitat quality and food supply-carbon storage,and trade-offs between carbon storage-water conservation and food supply-landscape culture;3)Five ES bundles are identified,including ecological balance,water recreation,food supply,carbon sequestration and oxygen release,and ecological vulnerability,each with distinct structural and spatial distribution characteristics;and 4)Based on the service bundle characteristics,various ecological function zones are classified,and precise control strategies tailored to different service bundles are proposed.[Conclusion]Trade-offs and synergies of ESs in Wujiang District are complex and regular,and it is therefore necessary to implement zonal regulation of ecological functions according to local conditions,highlight dominant functions,optimize trade-offs and synergies in specific scenarios to enhance all regional ecosystem functions.关键词
