Visual Quality Evaluation of Plant Landscapes in Xiyuan Around the City of Xi'an

Abstract
[Objective]Formulating a co-evaluative model incorporating subjective perception and objective metrics to systematically unravel the principal factors impacting visual quality,thereby generating theoretical substantiation and practical direction for the nuanced creation of plant landscapes in historical urban contexts.[Method]This study assessed the visual quality of 32 plant landscapes in the Xiyuan section of Xi'an Huancheng Park using eye movement analysis,Scenic Beauty Estimation(SBE),and the Semantic Differential Method(SD)to construct a comprehensive evaluation model that combines subjective and objective assessments for quantitative and qualitative analysis of visual quality.[Result]Significant factors affecting visual quality include landscape characteristic factors(color richness 0.427,environmental harmony 0.253,plant landscape uniqueness 0.379)and eye movement factors(total fixation time 0.525,number of fixations 0.234).[Conclusion]Vertically stratified phytocompositions significantly enhance visual preference,with color richness being a key factor in determining visual quality.Landscape elements that incorporate regional cultural symbols can effectively capture and guide visual attention.Future research could introduce seasonal changes to explore the dynamic characteristics of landscape visual quality,providing more comprehensive theoretical guidance for the design and maintenance of plant landscapes in historic districts throughout their entire life cycle.关键词
