Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effect of infant respiratory rate on chest CT radiation dose and image quality in high pitch mode(HPM)and low pitch mode(LPM).Methods:Eighty infants underwent chest CT and were divided into HPM group(40 cases)and LPM group(40 cases).Among the 80 cases,52 cases had high respiratory rate(RR),28 had low RR.The volume CT dose index(CTDIvol),dose length product(DLP)and effective dose(ED),overscan distance,objective and subjective image quality at different RR of the two groups were compared.Results:ED values of HPM and LPM groups were(3.31±0.28),(1.79±0.15)mSv,the overscan distances were(6.54±5.94),(4.02±2.51)cm,and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).The image quality scores of HPM group were better than those of LPM group(motion artifact scores of 1.6 and 2.3 points,subjective scores of 3.6 and 3.1 points,respetively),with statistically significant differences(P=0.002,0.004).The patients at high RR in HPM group had less motion artifact and better subjective score of image quality compared with the patients at high RR in LPM group(both P<0.05),while the patients at low RR had no statistical differences in motion artifact or subjective score between HPM group and LPM group(both P>0.05).Conclusions:HPM can be used to evaluate the lungs of infants with higher RR,and can show better image quality.LPM can be used for lung assessment of infants with low RR,which can reduce radiation dose and maintain good image quality.关键词
