Abstract

Objective To analyze the the effect of bicyclol on tuberculosis(TB)patients within one month of starting anti-TB treatment.Methods A retrospective study including TB patients from the hospital information system of Beijing Chest Hospital,Capital Medical University between January 2010 and December 2020 was performed to explore the effects of taking bicyclol within one month of receiving anti-TB treatment by analyzing risk factors for liver dysfunction.Results In the multivariable regression analysis of risk factors associated with abnormal liver function,female was less likely to develop liver dysfunction than male(OR:0.69,95%CI:0.51-0.92).The risk of liver dysfunction was lower in participants who took bicyclol within one month after receiving anti-tuberculosis treatment compared to those who did not take(OR:0.38,95%CI:0.28-0.51).Conclusions Taking bicyclol within one month of receiving anti-TB treatment could significantly reduce the occurrence of liver dysfunction.Further research is needed to investigate the potential mechanisms underlying liver function abnormalities in different genders.
