Investigation on the Correlation between Patient Activation and Psychological Distress in Patients with Myeloproliferative Neoplasms

Abstract
Objective To investigate the level of patient activation in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms and,after controlling for sociodemographic and disease-related confounding factors,to explore the independent impact of psychological distress on patient activation,so as to provide a basis for developing precise intervention strategies.Methods A total of 204 patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from April 2022 to December 2024 were selected as study subjects.General demographic and clinical data,patient activation[Patient Activation Measure(PAM)],and psychological distress[Kessler Psychological Distress Scale(K10)]were assessed.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between patient activation and psychological distress in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms.Multiple linear stepwise regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of patient activation.Results The total patient activation score of 204 patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms was(52.44±5.62).Among them,76(37.25%)were at level 1,65(31.86%)at level 2,46(22.55%)at level 3,and 17(8.33%)at level 4.The psychological distress score was(25.49±4.17).Pearson correlation analysis showed that all dimension scores and the total score of patient activation were negatively correlated with the total score of psychological distress(P<0.05).Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis indicated that age,education level,monthly household income,disease severity,and psychological distress were factors influencing patient activation(P<0.05),explaining 62.20%of the total variance.Conclusion The overall level of patient activation is relatively low in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms and is significantly negatively correlated with psychological distress.In addition,the level of patient activation is also significantly influenced by factors such as disease severity.关键词
