Research Progress on the Performance Optimization and Application of Gas Diffusion Layers for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

Abstract
The gas diffusion layer(GDL)of a proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFC)primarily consists of a carbon paper layer and a microporous layer(MPL),which directly influences the mass transfer efficiency and performance stability of the fuel cell.This paper re-viewed the application forms of novel GDL,including ultra-thin,flexible,and integrated types,and introduced research progress on enhanc-ing the water management capability,conductivity,and mechanical properties of the carbon paper layer and MPL through technology im-provements and material optimization.Based on the application requirements of GDL,the paper summarized technical strategies for improv-ing water vapor transport performance by optimizing pore structure,adjusting component ratios,and designing contact interfaces,as well as enhancing corrosion resistance and durability of GDL through different coating technologies.Finally,the future development directions of GDL were outlined.关键词
