Abstract
Objective To explore the application effect of the information-motivation-behavioral skills(IMB)model in health education of patients with chronic periodontitis.Methods A total of 100 patients with chronic periodontitis who received treatment at the Hospital of Stomatology,Zhongshan City from March 2023 to March 2024 were enrolled.The patients were grouped using a random number table:a control group receiving routine health education and an observation group receiving routine health education and IMB-based health education.Both groups contained 50 patients.The oral health self-efficacy,oral health-related quality of life,periodontal improvement,and chewing function were compared between the two groups before and after intervention.Results After 1,3,and 6 months of intervention,the scores of the Self-Efficacy Scale for Self-Care and the modified Mann Assessment of Swallowing Ability in both groups were higher than those before intervention.The width of the attached gingiva was greater than that before intervention.The scores of the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 were lower than those before intervention.The plaque index and the depth of periodontal pocket were lower than those before intervention(P<0.05).The above scores and the periodontal improvement in the observation group were better than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The IMB model can guide the establishment and implementation of health education programs,enhance the oral health self-efficacy and oral health-related quality of life in patients with chronic periodontitis,and improve their periodontal pathological condition and chewing ability.关键词
