Migration and Integration:A Study of the Migration Theme in the Miao Epic King Yalu
摘要
Abstract
The migration motif in the Miao epic King Yalu is richly layered,encompassing migration narratives,reasons for migration,the migration process,and its outcomes.The migration of King Yalu and his people runs throughout the epic.Warfare was the primary driver of their migration,hence it is termed"migration driven by warfare."Their arduous journey was fraught with countless dangers and con-stant threats of war.Ultimately,they reached the Kingdom of Hebduo,seized the territory through war-fare without the smoke of gunpowder,and established their capital there.Although the ancient Miao an-cestors were forced to leave their homeland,the epic imbues this migration with symbolic meanings such as economic exchange,cultural interaction,and ethnic integration,as well as profound aesthetic connota-tions.关键词
