Current Situation and Optimization of Decoration Waste Recycling:A Case Study of Shanghai

Abstract
The high heterogeneity and low recycling rate of decoration waste have become major obstacles to the development of zero-waste cities.Taking Shanghai as a case study,this paper systematically investigates the current status of decoration waste recycling through literature review,material composition analysis,and on-site surveys of treatment facilities.The data show that the annual declared volume of decoration waste in Shanghai has been steadily increasing,accounting for approximately 10%~20%of the total construction waste,with residential decoration being the primary source.The main components include concrete,bricks,and fine residues.However,existing policies lack effective regulation across the entire management chain.Transfer stations largely rely on manual sorting,resulting in low efficiency.Technically,conventional demolition waste treatment processes and equipment are not well-suited for decoration waste,especially in separating flexible materials,leading to recycled aggregates with high impurity levels.Although 12 specialized treatment plants have been established,most recycled aggregates are downgraded for low-value applications such as roadbed filling and brick production.In response to these challenges,this study proposes optimization strategies including source separation,an integrated supervision system for collection,transportation,and treatment,innovative sorting technologies,and graded application of recycled aggregates.These measures aim to provide systematic solutions for the full-chain management of urban decoration waste.关键词
