Abstract

To quantitatively analyze the characteristics of atmospheric nitrogen dry deposition during typical dust events and its impact on lake and reservoir water environments,monitoring devices were deployed at Miyun Reservoir(suburban area)and Haidian District(urban area)in Beijing during spring 2023.Atmospheric nitrogen data were collected during dust events,and nitrogen dry deposition fluxes were calculated.The study found that there were spatial differences in nitrogen dry deposition components.The concentrations of total nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen were higher than those in the urban area due to the impact of agricultural ammonia volatilization in the suburban area.During the two dust events,the ratios of the particulate dry deposition proportion of nitrate nitrogen to that of total nitrogen in the urban area were 0.98∶1 and 0.60∶1 respectively,and this characteristic was related to fossil fuel combustion emissions.Moreover,the forms of dry deposition showed temporal and spatial differences.During the first dust event,the gaseous nitrogen dry deposition accounted for 68.3%and 62.1%of the total nitrogen dry deposition in the suburban and urban areas,respectively.However,during the second dust event,the nitrate nitrogen dry deposition in the urban area was predominantly particulate form,and the proportion of gaseous nitrate nitrogen dry deposition in nitrate nitrogen dry deposition decreased to 47.6%.In addition,the input fluxes of atmospheric total nitrogen dry deposition during the two dust events were 44.6%and 30.4%of the total nitrogen flux into the reservoir from rivers in the same period,which was a potential trigger for water eutrophication.The results of this study offered reference significance for the prevention and control of total nitrogen pollution in lakes and reservoirs.
