Abstract

A plasma approach was utilized in this study to treat the surface of silicone rubber and a hydrophilic polymer coating on the surface using a silane coupling agent(KH550)was generated.The hydrophilicity of the silicone rubber material was improved by altering the molecular weight and solution concentration of polyethylene glycol(PEG)and polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP).The results indicate that both PEG and PVP solutions effectively enhance the hydrophilicity of the silicone rubber surface.The hydrophilicity of the silicone rubber was dramatically improved by using PEG and PVP synergistically,with the water contact angle decreasing from 107.9°±2.7° before modification to 57.2°±3.5° after modification.The optimal mass concentration of the PEG solution was 0.1 wt%,with an optimal molecular weight of 10000,while the optimal mass concentration of the PVP solution was also 0.1 wt%.The silicone rubber,modified with PEG and PVP in combination,shows excellent compatibility with cells.It has no discernible impact on cell morphology,cell cycle regulation,or apoptosis levels.
