Abstract

This study examined the growth status of turf and the effect of the turf transplant process on the fertility and toxic element contents in the planting site soil.The typical turfgrass(Cynodon dactylon)and control samples were collected in an area of Cd pollution for analysis.The result showed that the average content of Cd in the surface layer of the research area decreased by approximately 2.32 mg·kg-1 to 1.25 mg·kg-1 after 3 years of turf transplant(once a year).The growth state of dwarf Bermuda grass in the research area was good,and it was little affected by the content of Cd in the soil.Compared with rice a nearby field,the contents of total nitrogen,total phosphorus and available phosphorus in the soil of the turf field were reduced,which might be related to the removal of surface soil during the transplant process.Based on the geometric series model,the Cd content in the soil of the turf field can be roughly estimated using the formula of cn=2.32 × 0.814n after the nth turf transplant in this area.After about 10 years of turf transplant,the average Cd content in the soil of turf field can be reduced to below 0.30 mg·kg-1.
