Abstract
This paper systematically reviews the evolution of groundwater exploration and utilization,as well as the corresponding progress in hydrogeological,engineering geological,and environmental geological(collectively termed hydro-engineering-environmental geology)work in Beijing since 1949.It also analyzes the current opportunities and challenges and proposes future development directions and goals to support the high-quality socio-economic development of the capital.Findings indicate that since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949,Beijing's hydro-engineering-environmental geology work has embarked on a modern and specialized path.Progressing through distinct developmental stages,it has established unique capabilities in serving the capital's core functions,making significant contribution to urban water security,support for major engineering construction projects,geological disaster prevention and control,and ecological preservation.However,persistent challenges remain in groundwater resource protection and development,digitalized geological monitoring,and groundwater level management.The study concludes that Beijing city should strategically leverage the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and river networks for groundwater replenishment and conservation,digitalization of geological environment monitoring,and groundwater regulation strategy planning to achieve sustainable water resource utilization and urban development.关键词
