Optimization of Beijing's groundwater level monitoring network under new hydrological conditions

Abstract
This paper reviews the historical evolution of Beijing's groundwater monitoring network and analyzes the deficiencies in the current system,particularly concerning the accuracy of monitoring submerged aquifers,capabilities for safeguarding critical urban infrastructure,and overall informatization levels.Using the Beijing Institute of Geology's monitoring network,we propose establishing a dedicated monitoring network for submerged aquifers to fill the regional monitoring gap,with strategic deployment focused on major urban construction zones and linear rail transit corridors.Furthermore,we recommend advancing the technical capabilities for automated monitoring within these confined aquifers to overcome existing efficiency constraints.Enhanced long-term,high-frequency dynamic monitoring of groundwater levels is essential to accurately capture changes in dynamic characteristics,promptly identify monitoring needs and potential risks,and thereby scientifically refine and readjust the groundwater monitoring system.These improvements provide a scientific basis for promoting multi-dimensional coordinated urban water management(encompassing quantity,quality,ecology,and safety)and future groundwater monitoring efforts.关键词
