Abstract

The seepage stability of high earth-rock cofferdam slopes is of vital importance in the construction safety and progress control of water conservancy and hydropower projects.Taking the earth-rock cofferdam upstream of the Sangpile Hydropower Station as an example,this article adopts the finite element analysis method for a total of 9 combined working conditions,including 3 filling materials(fine sand,gravel,and plain fill soil)and 3 water-facing slope ratios(1:3.0,1:2.5,1:2).The research was conducted based on the indicators of the maximum seepage flow per single width and the slope stability coefficient.The results show that the filling material has a significant impact on the seepage flow,and the slope ratio of the water-facing slope has a significant influence on the stability of the cofferdam.The recommended plan that complies with safety regulations and can effectively control investment costs was finally determined.The research results can provide a new idea for solving the seepage stability problem of similar cofferdam slopes.
