Impact of W-OH water-blocking layers on rainfall infiltration,runoff and sediment yield processes on coal gangue slopes

Abstract

Aiming at the problem of water leakage and frozen soil formation of coal gangue slope in Muli mining area of Qinghai Province,water-blocking layers with different concentrations of hydrophilic polyurethane(W-OH,0%,1.5%,2.5%,3.5%,4.5%)were constructed on the coal gangue slope,and the characteristic parameters of rainfall infiltration,runoff and sediment on the slope were analyzed by artificial rainfall simulation.The effects of water-blocking layers with different concentrations of W-OH on the rainfall infiltration and runoff-producing and sediment-producing process of the coal gangue slope were revealed.The results showed that:(1)Under slope of 5°,15°,25°and rainfall intensity of 30~90 mm·h-1,the overall change trend of slope infiltration rate with dif-ferent W-OH concentrations showed a rapid decline at first and then tended to be stable,and the higher the W-OH concentration,the earlier the stable infiltration stage was reached.(2)The average infiltration rate of slope under different W-OH concentration was decreased by 4.15%-73.64%compared with the control group(0%W-OH).The water-blocking effects of 1.5%,2.5%,3.5%and 4.5%W-OH on slope surface were 5.49%-49.98%,11.96%-65.91%,16.61%-72.10%and 22.92%-85.81%,respectively,and increased with the increase of W-OH concentra-tion.(3)The initial runoff generation time on the slope with different W-OH concentrations was 1.95%-74.20%earlier than that on the control slope.The sediment yield effects of 1.5%,2.5%,3.5%and 4.5%W-OH on the slope were 7.68%-97.98%,15.28%-163.00%,25.44%-261.44%and 25.61%-260.58%,respectively,which were negatively correlated with rainfall intensity and slope,and positively correlated with W-OH concentration.Runoff yield effect were 5.20%-83.39%,12.93%-131.18%,14.14%-149.11%and 16.28%-188.86%.(4)The correlation analysis of relevant indicators shows that the W-OH water-blocking layer plays an important role in preventing water infiltration and increasing sediment yield,and rain intensity and slope are still the dominant fac-tors in the process of sediment yield on slope.It is found that the construction of W-OH water-blocking layer on the coal gangue slope can play a good role in reducing seepage and water blocking,and also increase the runoff-producing and sediment-producing on the slope.Considering the problem of soil and water loss,some soil and water conservation measures can be configured on the slope.
