How Trade Facilitation Can Improve Firm Resource Allocation:From the Perspective of Inventory Adjustment of Chinese Manufacturing Firms

Abstract
As the main content of supply-side structural reform,"de-inventorying"is closely related to the optimization of firm re-source allocation and high-quality economic growth.This paper takes firm inventory adjustment as an entry point to examine in depth the impact of trade facilitation on resource allocation of Chinese manufacturing firms.The study found that the conclusion that trade fa-cilitation significantly reduces the level of firms' non-finished goods inventories,which in turn effectively improves firms' resource allo-cation,still holds when numerous confounding factors are excluded;mechanism tests show that trade facilitation reduces the level of firms' non-finished goods inventories mainly through the channels of increasing the degree of firms' supply chain integration and enhan-cing firms' innovation capabilities;and heterogeneity analysis shows that the inventory reduction effect of trade facilitation is significant-ly larger for non-state-owned and general trading firms.关键词
