Socio-Emotional Wealth and Family Business Digital Engagement
摘要
Abstract
Past research suggests that family firms place excessive emphasis on the retention of socio-emotional wealth,which may in-hibit their digital innovation.This study empirically examines the relationship between socio-emotional wealth and digital investment u-sing data from A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen during the period of 2011 to 2022.The findings indicate that:(1)Family management inhibits firms' digital investment;(2)The inhibitory effect increases as the degree of kinship increases;(3)The addition of close family members further reduces firms' digital investment compared to distant family members;(4)Intergenerational inheritance also inhibits firms' digital investment,but an increase in the number of male heirs in the second generation can mitigate this inhibitory effect(5)The educational level of managers,the historical expectation gap,the industry expectation gap,and the degree of regional digital transformation can effectively mitigate the inhibiting effect of family business on firms' digital inputs;(6)The inhibiting effect of family business on digital inputs is detrimental to the high-quality development of firms.关键词
