Epistemic Priority and Value Encapsulation:An Investigation of Scientific Value Based on Meta-value Problem

摘要
Abstract
It is generally believed that science is an epistemic enterprise.The core of scientific research and the primary goal of science is to promote the attainment of truth or knowledge.However,in the current debate,a gradually popular stance is called the"aims approach",which holds that epistemic values are not prioritized in scientific practice but should be considered and balanced comprehensively according to the aims of inquiry.If we consider the"meta-value problem"of science—why we value science—we find that the core meta-value of science is to promote human cognition.Therefore,as an epistemic enterprise,science should adhere to epistemic priority.In addition,"epistemic priority"does not mean that scientific practice pays no attention to social values,but should promote social values in a way that promotes human cogni-tion under the tone of value encapsulation.关键词
