Development and application of Matlab-based software for particle morphology analysis of granular soils

Abstract
To systematically quantify and characterize the morphological features of granular soils,high-precision computed tomography scanning and image processing methods were employed to extract the voxel information of particles.Based on spherical harmonic function analysis method,a three-dimensional surface mesh was reconstructed that maintains mathematical continuity while accurately representing the true particle morphology.A morphology characterization algorithm was developed to ensure the precise calculation of morphological parameters,and principal component analysis based on spherical harmonic coefficients was used to achieve random reconstruction of virtual particles with authentic morphological characteristics.To enhance the efficiency of particle morphology analysis,the software named PMA_MAT was developed and designed on the Matlab platform,integrating and encapsulating the morphological analysis algorithms to facilitate intuitive operations for particle shape reconstruction and analysis.Furthermore,this analysis software enabled the construction of a general-purpose database for the morphology of granular soil particles,allowing for rapid classification and reconstruction of particle shapes,which can be extensively applied in discrete element numerical simulations.关键词
