Abstract

This study aimed to assess the immune antibody levels and viral infection status of Newcastle disease(ND)in poultry in Weinan City.From 2022 to 2024,a total of 2,666 chicken serum samples and 590 oropharyngeal/cloacal swabs were collected from standard farms and smallholder farms across 11 vaccinated breeding areas in the city.Newcastle disease immune antibodies were detected using hemagglutination(HA)and hemagglutination inhibition(HI)tests,while viral nucleic acids were detected using real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR).The results showed that during 2022-2024,the individual qualification rate for ND immune antibodies in chickens in Weinan City was 92.09%,and the flock qualification rate was 93.49%.The antibody qualification rates across different years and regions all exceeded the≥70%immunization requirement stipulated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.The qualification rates for ND immune antibodies in standard farms and smallholder farms were 93.33%and 90.87%,respectively,both meeting national immunization efficacy evaluation standards.The antibody qualification rate in standard farms was higher than in smallholder farms.All pathogen samples tested negative for viral nucleic acids.The study demonstrates that the Newcastle disease immunization program in Weinan City is effective,with a low risk of disease outbreak.However,continuous efforts in ND vaccination and monitoring are essential to ensure farming safety.
