Abstract

Rice-crab co-culture offers advantages including low investment,short production cycles,and mutualistic symbiosis.This study evaluated the effects of two juvenile stocking densities on growth patterns,gonadal development,rice yield and economic benefits of one-year-old precocious crabs.The results showed that:1)Female juveniles exhibited precocious maturity by day 30 post-stocking acrossdensities,achieving 90~95%maturation rates with average body mass of 40 g,where low-density groups showed higher maturation rates than high-density groups;;2)increasing stocking density reduced juveniles survival while elevating total crab yield per unit,but rice yields remained comparable across densities;3)similar gross revenues between density groups,yet low density stocking generated superior net profits and return on investment.In conclusion,under the symbiosis model of"rice+one-year-old precocious crab",the suitable stocking density of juvenile Chinese mitten crab is 37 500 crabs/hm2,can effectively improve the proportion,average body weight and survival rate of precocious crab and obtain better economic benefits.
