Abstract

To address the encapsulation issues of solid-liquid phase change materials and to minimize their impact on the strength properties of concrete,macrocapsules composed of paraffin as the core material and polyethylene terephthalate(PET)as the carrier were prepared.These paraffin/PET macrocapsules were then incorporated into mortar to create phase change energy storage mortar.The study analyzed the sealing performance,interfacial characteristics,and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)curves of the paraffin/PET macrocapsules,and investigated the thermal conductivity,temperature control capability,and mechanical properties of the phase change energy storage mortar.The results showed that the paraffin/PET macrocapsules exhibited strong sealing performance in a working environment at 60℃.The incorporation of the capsules enhanced the compactness at the interface between the capsules and the mortar.The paraffin/PET macrocapsules also demonstrated good thermal performance,and the thermal conductivity of the energy storage mortar decreased with increasing capsule content.When the volume fraction of the capsules was 16%,the central temperature of the energy storage mortar was reduced by 6.5℃compared to that of ordinary mortar,significantly enhancing the mortar's temperature control capability.In terms of mechanical properties,when the volume fraction of the capsules was 4%,the compressive strength of the mortar at 28 days was 31.90 MPa,with an increase of nearly 10%.When the volume fraction of the capsules was 16%,the compressive strength of the energy storage mortar was 16.60 MPa,and the flexural strength was 4.32 MPa,demonstrating good mechanical strength and thermal energy storage performance.These findings provide a reference and practical guidance for the application of energy storage mortar in building structural engineering.
