Abstract
Taking the polyurethane elastomer used for the shell of a certain type of ship as the research object,the mechanical properties of materials with different service times(5 years,10 years,and 20 years)were systematically studied in view of the issue of its performance degradation under high load-bearing and long-term service conditions.Through the tensile and tear performance tests,it was found that the material showed significant time-dependent characteristics.The tensile strength decreased from 18.45 MPa after 5 years to 8.34 MPa after 20 years,with a decrease of 54.8%.The elongation at break decreased from 479.01%after 5 years to 275.97%after 20 years,with a decrease of 42.4%.The tear strength remained stable for 10 years of service(66.23,68.80 kN/m at 5 years and 10 years,respectively),but plummeted to 37.50 kN/m at 20 years,with a decrease of 57.4%.It was found that the material life predicted by the laboratory accelerated aging test(25~35 years)was significantly different from that in the actual engineering environment,and the actual material life may be shorter.This suggests that the impact of complex and variable real-world environments on material properties far exceeds laboratory conditions.The results show that the performance of polyurethane elastomers is stable within 5 years of service,the tensile strength is lower than the performance threshold at 10 years,and the mechanical properties of the material are significantly attenuated at 20 years,which cannot meet the requirements of equipment service reliability.The research results provide important data support for the reliability design and life prediction of polyurethane elastomers in the field of defense and military industry,and provide a new perspective for the study of the performance degradation mechanism of polyurethane in complex environments.关键词
