Abstract

In order to obtain a reasonable design method for the alignment of magnetic levitation track turnouts,it is proposed that the lateral line of the turnout should ideally be composed of"transition curve-circular curve-transition curve".By comparing the Fresnel integral curve,Clothoid curve,and other types of curves,it was concluded that selecting Clothoid curve alignment as the turnout transition curve can significantly reduce the total length of the turnout while meeting comfort and safety requirements,which helps to lower the project cost.Using the turnout alignment with the Clothoid curve as the transition curve,a method was proposed to solve for the parameters of the circular curve and the transition curve,based on inputs such as minimum switch distance,driving speed,and driving index requirements.The curve elements of the entire turnout were then derived.Using this method and taking a turnout with a lateral passing speed of 1 000 km/h as an example,the calculated total turnout alignment length under the given input conditions was 1 317.2 m,meeting the safety and comfort criteria.Furthermore,based on certain special cases in practical design,two possible turnout alignment design and calculation methods were proposed.One special case was when the minimum radius of curvature of the circular curve segment was limited,and the lateral passing speed failed to reach the critical speed.In this case,the minimum radius of curvature should be selected as the radius of the circular curve for calculation and design.The second special case was when the solved arc of the circular curve was less than or equal to zero,meaning the turnout alignment consisted only of two transition curves.In this case,the radius of curvature R at the docking point of the transition curves should be solved first,followed by the calculation of the entire turnout alignment.
