Analysis of Capacity Enhancement for Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway and Beijing-Guangzhou Line Operations at Yueyangbei Station Downstream Throat

Abstract
As an important part of the national comprehensive transportation system,the Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway serves as a new national strategic corridor for"transport of coal from the north to the south"and a vital comprehensive energy channel.Positioned to become a model for Chinese railway freight,it plays a critical role in the railway network.With the continuous growth in Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway traffic volume,the number of trains originating from the Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway and departing southbound via the downstream throat of Yueyangbei Station on the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway continues to increase.Yueyangbei Station is not only a key freight marshalling station on the Beijing-Guangzhou trunk line but also the junction station connecting the Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway and the Beijing-Guangzhou Line.Currently,the southbound departure capacity(downstream throat throughput)at Yueyangbei Station is approaching saturation.This bottleneck fails to meet both the demand for distributing the growing Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway traffic southbound and the increasing transportation requirements of the Beijing-Guangzhou Line itself,consequently constraining the achievement of the national railway freight volume growth target.To enhance the southbound departure throughput capacity for Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway traffic at Yueyangbei Station,this paper analyzed the distribution capacity of the Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway terminal hub and the current operational status of Yueyangbei Station.It highlighted the necessity of improving this capacity and proposed potential solution approaches.Furthermore,the study explored operational optimization measures and the settlement tariff negotiation mechanism,aiming to provide a solution for boosting railway freight volume growth and alleviating the capacity constraints at Yueyangbei Station.关键词
