Abstract

Bearings are widely used in modern industry,and their performance largely depends on the morphology and distribution of their carbides.This paper tests and characterizes the variation patterns of carbides in GCr15 bearing steel in different production processes.In the hot-rolled state,the reticular carbides are distributed intermittently along the austenite grain boundaries,with an average width of 0.28 μm and an area fraction of approximately 4.8%.After spheroidizing annealing,the reticular carbides melt and fuse to form spherical carbides,and the lamellar cementites in pearlite also undergo spheroidization and form spherical carbides.The average particle size of these spherical carbides is 0.42 μm and their volume fraction is approximately 14.5%.By controlling the hot rolling temperature and cooling rate,the formation of reticular carbides can be reduced.By spheroidizing annealing,reticular carbides can be transformed into spherical carbides,improving the performance of bearing steel.
