摘要

Abstract

Cannabis sativa L.,renowned as one of the most ancient medicinal plants globally,is widely used for its endogenous secondary metabolites cannabinoids,which exhibiting remarkable biologi-cal activities.Characterized by dioecious growth,cannabis plants have female individuals that are rich in cannabinoids within the glandular trichomes on the bracts and floral leaves,whereas male plants possess substantially lower concentrations.The pollination of female plants can reduce the yield of cannabinoids,making the development of whole-female cannabis population particularly important.Current practices,including the manual elimination of male plants,vegetative propagation through cuttings,and seed femi-nization,are extensively utilized in the cultivation of female-only propagation materials.Moreover,inno-vative techniques such as micropropagation and the use of synthetic seeds are being vigorously investiga-ted,showing promise for future large-scale industrial applications under specific conditions.This review provides a comprehensive overview of four principal methods for acquiring whole female cannabis popula-tions,delving into their strengths and weaknesses,and offering forward-looking perspectives on potential research avenues.The aim is to provide a reference for the sustainable development of the medicinal can-nabis industry.
