Abstract
Dietary fiber,defined as the collective term for carbohydrates and associated lignin in plant-based feeds that resist hydrolysis by endogenous enzymes,modulates digestive physiology primarily through microbial fermentation or physical effects.Historically perceived as nutritionally inert due to limited mammalian enzymatic digestion—often associated with reduced feed value and performance—emerging evidence now underscores its multifaceted roles in swine production.Notably,dietary fiber contributes to enhancing pork carcass quality,maintenance of intestinal health,and improving sow welfare.This review summarises current understanding of its nutritional properties and physiological impacts on pigs,providing critical insights for evidence-based application in swine feed formulations.关键词
