Abstract
Many scholars of the Tongcheng School had rich experiences in the border areas and left behind considerable frontier writings.The academic research on this subject began in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period,and has gone through four stages:emer-gence,preliminary development,expansion and exploration.At present,there are many case studies in the academic community on the experi-ences and writings of representative figures of the Tongcheng School in the northeastern,northwestern,southwestern border areas and maritime frontier.However,existing research faces several limitations,including a lack of thematic organization of literature,insufficient breadth and depth of research,and a need for greater innovation in research perspectives and methods.The Tongcheng School's attention to,writings on,and involvement in frontier governance constitute a significant part of Qing dynasty frontier history,which should be taken as the research object and content of frontier studies.关键词
