Design and Implementation of a RAID Storage Strategy Based on Load Balancing

Abstract
According to the challenges of data storage in the aerospace field,an FPGA-based serial ATA(SA-TA)controller is designed,focusing on solid-state drive(SSD)media.The designed controller achieves an aver-age read/write speed of 500 MB/s for a single hard drive and integrates the ATA command set to enable self-monitoring,analysis,and repoting technology(S.M.A.R.T.)functionality for monitoring the health status of SATA hard drives.To further meet the demands for high-capacity,high-throughput data storage tasks,a multi-SSD array system is implemented based on the single-drive controller,a load-balancing-based array storage strategy is innovatively proposed by dynamically monitoring drive health and adaptively adjusting data alloca-tion,which significantly reduces the performance degradation impact of individual drives in space environments on the overall array system.Experiments are conducted using the domestically developed V7-690T FPGA for validation.The results show that when a single drive experiences performance degrades by 65%,the proposed load-balanced four-drive array system achieves over 50%higher performance compared to traditional RAID0.This solution significantly enhances the efficiency of storage systems in scenarios where individual drives suffer performance degradation,making it higly valuable for practical applications.关键词
