Abstract

To enhance the electromagnetic functionality of polyurethane colloids in ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)fiber composites,highly-conductive graphene was incorporated to develop a colloid material exhibiting both excellent mechanical properties and superior electromagnetic wave-absorption capabilities.The mechanical response of the modified polyurethane was investigated through quasi-static tensile tests and dynamic loading experiments using a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)system.Additionally,its electromagnetic wave absorption performance was evaluated in the 1~18 GHz frequency range using a vector network analyzer.Results indicate that the modified polyurethane material demonstrates outstanding elasticity and toughness under both quasi-static and dynamic conditions.Under dynamic loading,the material exhibits pronounced strain rate sensitivity and strong energy absorption capability,with its failure modes showing significant dependence on strain rate.In terms of electromagnetic performance,the reflection loss in the L and S bands is below-22.3 dB,corresponding to an absorption rate exceeding 99%.The material maintains effective absorption in the C and X bands,while performance in the Ku band shows a slight decline yet remains above-12 dB.The study confirms that the incorporation of highly-conductive graphene effectively establishes a stable conductive network within the matrix,significantly enhancing the material's electromagnetic response without compromising its mechanical integrity.The graphene-modified polyurethane colloid developed in this work holds promising potential for application in UHMWPE fiber composites aimed at integrated stealth and protection functionalities.
