Abstract

Traditional radar tracking of ballistic targets often employs the α-β-γ filtering method due to its simplicity and low computational requirements.However,its filtering accuracy can be insufficient for satisfying the demands of high-speed and nonlinear projectile trajectories.To address this issue,a radar tracking algorithm for ballistic targets was proposed based on the square root central difference Kalman filter(SR-CDKF),enhancing both accuracy and robustness.The radar trajectory measurement problem was first formulated,and a radar measurement equation along with a particle-based ballistic model for high-speed projectile was established in the launch coordinate system.The continuous trajectory equations were then discretized to derive a discrete state-space model suitable for real-time filtering.The principles and implementation procedures of both the α-β-γ filter and the SR-CDKF were discussed in detail.While the α-β-γ filter assumes a simplified motion model,the SR-CDKF considers system nonlinearities and improves numerical stability through square root decomposition.In addition to estimating key ballistic parameters,the SR-CDKF also estimates the conformity coefficient of the drag coefficient,thus enhancing the algorithm's robustness against model inaccuracies.Simulation experiments were conducted using both the SR-CDKF and α-β-γ filtering methods under identical conditions,focusing on trajectory parameter estimation and impact point prediction.Comparative results show that the SR-CDKF offers significantly higher filtering accuracy and better robustness,effectively meeting radar tracking requirements for high-speed ballistic target.
