Abstract

The levelized annual cost method is an effective approach to evaluate the economic viability of deploying specific energy-saving conductors in overhead transmission lines.Multiple technical-economic sensitivity factors affect the levelized annual cost,making it challenging to identify a conductor with optimal economy under all boundary conditions.Through in-depth analysis of the levelized cost calculation principles,annual energy consumption cost per unit capacity is proposed to replace the separate variables of load loss hours and wholesale electricity price,thereby reducing the two-parameter sensitivity analysis to a single-variable assessment that significantly enhances evaluation clarity.Through extensive sample analysis,it is found that as the annual energy consumption cost per unit capacity rises,conductors with better energy-saving performance demonstrate increasingly significant economic advantages over traditional aluminium conductor steel reinforced within their whole life cycle.Consequently,such energy-saving conductors are more recommended for engineering applications.
