摘要

Abstract

[Objective]To clarify the parasitic behaviors and competition between two egg parasitoids,Trichogramma chilonis Ishii and Telenomus remus Nixon,on the eggs of Spodoptera frugiperda Smith,which could provide a reference for biological control of Spodoptera frugiperda Smith using these two kinds of parasitoids.[Method]Using Trichogramma chilonis Ishii,Telenomus remus Nixon,and Spodoptera frugiperda Smith as research subjects,a stereomicroscope was employed to observe and record the following:the host-searching and parasitism behaviors of the two egg parasitoids to-ward Spodoptera frugiperda Smith eggs,along with the corresponding durations;the parasitic effects of the two egg para-sitoids at different wasp-egg ratios;the confrontational behaviors between the two egg parasitoids;and the eclosion of off-spring of the two egg parasitoids parasitizing the same egg.[Result]The parasitic behaviors of the two egg parasitoids both included 4 processes:host-searching,recognition,oviposition,and cleaning.No oviposition by Trichogramma chi-lonis Ishii was observed in the inner-layer eggs of Spodoptera frugiperda Smith,whereas Telenomus remus Nixon could parasitize the inner-layer eggs.Parasitic behaviors of Trichogramma chilonis Ishii and Telenomus remus Nixon differed the durations of their parasitic behaviors:their average searching durations were 3.57 and 6.62 min respectively;their first oviposition durations were 165.14 and 78.63 s,respectively,and their second oviposition durations were 105.67 and 60.13 s,respectively.When the number of Spodoptera frugiperda Smith eggs was 30,60,and 100,the parasitism rate of Trichogramma chilonis Ishii decreased as the number of Spodoptera frugiperda Smith eggs increased,however,the num-ber of offspring emerged and female emergence ratio showed no significant changes(P>0.05,the same below).The para-sitism rate and female rate of Telenomus remus Nixon offspring showed no significant changes,but the number of off-spring emerged increased as the number of Spodoptera frugiperda Smith eggs increased.After behavioral confrontations of the two parasitoids,Telenomus remus Nixon continued to oviposit for more instances and left less often,but the dif-ferences were not significant.In intrinsic competitive interactions,the emergence rate of Trichogramma chilonis Ishii was significantly higher than that of Telenomus remus Nixon in most cases(P<0.05).[Conclusion]The two egg parasitoids share similar searching and parasitic processes,but Telenomus remus Nixon can parasitize inner-layer eggs and exhibit shorter oviposition durations.Different wasp-egg ratios have a greater impact on the parasitic efficiency of Trichogramma chilonis Ishii and a smaller impact on that of Telenomus remus Nixon.In behavioral confrontations upon contact,Teleno-mus remus Nixon has a slight advantage;while in intrinsic competitive interactions,Trichogramma chilonis Ishii is proved to be more dominant.
