Modern Interpretation of Hakka Architectural Culture in Educational Spaces:Taking the Design of Yuancheng Primary School and Kindergarten in Meijiang District,Meizhou,Guangdong Province as an Example

Abstract
This paper begins by examining the origin and development of Hakka architectural culture,analyzing how its traditional regional elements are manifested in settlement patterns,spatial organization,material application,and decorative arts.It establishes a conceptual link between Hakka architecture and the design of educational spaces,highlighting its cultural relevance.Using the Yuancheng Primary School and Kindergarten project in Meijiang District as a case study,the research explores design strategies at macro,meso,and micro levels—including the reinterpretation of overall layout,contemporary transformation of spatial forms,modern adaptation of traditional materials,and translation of architectural ornaments and detail elements.By integrating traditional Hakka elements with modern architectural technology,the project provides a meaningful model of an educational environment that embodies both pedagogical function and cultural value.This study offers new perspectives and practical approaches for the contemporary interpretation and sustainable inheritance of traditional culture.关键词
