Abstract

To address the scenario of ammonia-coal co-firing,the current power station boiler performance test regulations have incorporated the presence of NH₃ in gaseous fuels.However,some of the revised calculation formulas are still not suitable to the case of ammonia-coal co-firing,especially for the determination of the excess air coefficient,which is based on the premise that fuel nitrogen can be ignored.A calculation method for excess air coefficient based on nitrogen balance has been established,which is not affected by the nitrogen content in the fuel and is suitable for efficiency calculation of ammonia-coal co-firing boilers.On this basis,the variations of theoretical dry air quantity,dry flue gas quantity were analyzed as the blending mass fraction changed.The excess air coefficient calculated by the current code and its simplified method and the corresponding boiler efficiency deviations were compared.The variation of theoretical dry air quantity and theoretical dry flue gas volume under different blending mass fractions is directly related to the raw coal type.For coal types with higher carbon content and lower oxygen content,the theoretical dry air requirement significantly decreases with increasing blending mass fraction.When NH3 is co-fired,the dry flue gas volume decreases,while the water vapor content in the flue gas significantly increases,and the increase is greater than the decrease in the dry flue gas volume,resulting in an increase in the total flue gas volume.The calculation result of the excess air coefficient based on the method proposed in this paper lies between the results calculated using the current code and its simplified formula.The excess air coefficient calculated using the current code is underestimated,and the deviation of the calculation results becomes more significant with the increase of the blending mass fraction.Correspondingly,the boiler efficiency calculated based on the current code is overestimated,and the deviation increases with the increase of the blending mass fraction.When the blending mass fraction increases from 20%to 80%,the calculation deviation increases from 0.05%to 0.16%.
