Controlled Preparation and Catalysis of Polymer Nanoballs Loaded With p-Nitrophenol

Abstract

This study explores precise control methods for the morphology of polymer nanoballs and verifies the catalytic performance of polymer nanoballs loaded with Ag nanoparticles.Using 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether(ODA)and pyromellitic dianhydride(PMDA)as monomers,amphiphilic polyamic acid(PAA)was synthe-sized through a stepwise polymerization reaction.The polyimide(PI segments)was introduced into the PAA main chain via a thermal imidization reaction to form P(AA-stat-1),and then self-assembly of the polymers PAA and P(AA-stat-1)was achieved through a solvent exchange method.Ag nanoparticles were loaded onto PAA nanoballs using an in situ deposition method,and their catalytic performance was tested.The polymer nanoballs and Ag-loaded PAA nanoballs were characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy,infrared spectroscopy,dynamic light scattering,transmission electron microscopy,and UV-visible spectropho-tometry.The results indicate that the mass concentration and reaction temperature significantly affect the mor-phology of PAA nanoballs.As the mass concentration increases,the morphology of the PAA nanoballs transi-tions from solid nanospheres to bowl-shaped nanoparticles and back to solid nanospheres.At an annealing tem-perature of 180℃,the increase in hydrophobic segments enhances the rigidity of the PAA main chain and increases the hydrophobicity,ultimately resulting in hollow capsules.The PAA nanoballs loaded with Ag nanoparticles exhibit excellent catalytic performance,completely reducing p-nitrophenol to p-aminophenol within 2 minutes.The findings validate the possibility of precisely controlling the morphology of polymer nano-balls through regulating the self-assembly behavior of polymers(self-properties,environmental factors,and external conditions),providing a technical route for the development of efficient nanocatalysts.
