Abstract

This study analyzed the variation in seed traits among different coffee varieties from various production areas and conducted a comprehensive evaluation of seed traits,aiming to screen out excellent germplasms.Seed traits of 33 coffee sam-ples collected from Lujiangba(Baoshan),Xingfu town(Lincang),Pu'er,Ruili(Dehong),and Mangshi(Dehong)were investi-gated.Seven traits were determined,including seed weight,seed length,seed width,compactness,length-width ratio,form factor,and seed water content,and were measured.Statistical analyses were performed via methods such as significance dif-ference analysis,correlation analysis,and the principal component-subordinate function method.The difference analysis showed that there were certain differences in each trait among different samples,and the degree of variation among traits also varied.Correlation analysis revealed that there were relationships among the indicators,indicating that seed traits are not in-dependent.According to the results of principal component analysis,three principal components were extracted with a cumu-lative contribution rate of 83.235%.The first principal component mainly represented seed width,length-width ratio,com-pactness,and form factor;the second principal component mainly represented seed length,compactness,and form factor;and the third principal component mainly represented seed weight and water content.Based on the subordinate function analysis of the principal component scores,the comprehensive evaluation values of the traits of 33 coffee seeds were obtained.The top 5 were No.18,20,23,27,and 28 in sequence,namely T5175(Xingfu Town,Lincang),Aini CV-19(Pu'er),Geisha(Xingfu Town,Lincang),Geisha-Round(Xingfu Town,Lincang),and Aini C36(Pu'er).Coffee seed traits are highly variable.There are significant morphological differences among provenances.The comprehensive evaluation results showed that coffee bean sizes vary across different planting areas,and there are also differences in various traits among different coffee varieties planted in the same location.Therefore,attention should be given to the selection of varieties when promoting coffee planting.
